The aesthetics of beauty within the decayed, the deformed and the distorted are commonly overlooked. My current practice explores the beauty within decay, engaging the viewer in a visual moment where we observe something that is both ugly and beautiful in its transience. Whilst the presented may be repulsive, we subconsciously consider the aesthetics beyond the grotesque that makes viewing both beautiful and disquieting. Exploring the aesthetic combination of scientific analysis and the concept of the macro and micro world influences my work through the use of composition, colour and interpretation, evoking the alien, the surreal and the celestial within my own creations.
